About Sugathi
Education improves the level of human well being. Basic education covering reading, writing, studying basic sciences and doing arithmetic is considered as a crucial aspect of quality of life.
Sugathi (which means welfare or bliss) is a group started with an aim of working for social development by contributing in the areas of basic education and child development. Sugathi firmly believes that these are the areas of great relevance with respect to the future of children.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam says in his book Indomitable Spirit . "A scene appears in front of me where there is a child, a teenager, an adult and a leader. All of them are facing a situation of human need, but each one reacts differently. The child asks , "What can you do for me?" The teenager says , "I want to do it alone." The young person proclaims, "Let us do it together." The leader offers, "What can I do for you?" The education system has a tremendous responsibility to transform a child into a leader – the transformation from "What can you do for me?" to "What can I do for you?". These leaders, as enlightened Indian citizens, work for the development of society as a whole.
Short term goals
1.Initially, we help the organizations/ charitable societies/ NGOs , which support the school education of the poor and underprivileged children. Our help can be of any kind i.e., infrastructural or voluntary support.
2.Giving our time to children is as important as donating money. We can spend our free time with them on a regular basis. We can teach them basic Maths, Sciences and English etc . We can organize events say games, painting , singing, quiz programs or anything which makes their mind sharp and brings out the creativity. We will conduct these kind of workshops and activities in Government schools also.
Long term objectives
1. We will address the grass root problems prevailing in the Indian education system viz., out-of-school children, school dropouts and quality of education etc.
2.We will sponsor the education of meritorious but poor children at school level.
3.We will help Government schools to have conducive environment.

Sugathi Annual Meet'08
Education transforms a child into a stronger individual to face the society boldly and contribute to its development. An year ago, Sugathi evolved out of these thoughts. Being an year old group, Sugathi is expected to act with more maturity that would be possible by retrospection. We felt the same when one of our members proposed the idea of Annual meet. After the discussions, it was decided to have it in Bangalore on Sunday the 29th June 08. The time and venue details were communicated to all our members well in advance.
As planned, the meeting started at 10 AM on 29th June 08. Our members were present in a good number. The Meeting commenced with introduction of all the members. This was followed by a presentation by Srinath on Sugathi-How the journey started? He explained the rationale behind the formation of Sugathi, its short term and the long term objectives. He also talked about Sugathi’s association with Ananya and Samskar. After the inspiring presentation from Srinath, Pardha took the members through the activities of Sugathi and its progress since started. Pardha’s interesting presentation covering each activity mixed with pics and videos created excitement among the members.
There were some interesting questions and discussions on various topics like registering Sugathi, activities, planning, identifying NGOs, collaborating with other voluntary groups and publicizing Sugathi.
This Q & A session was followed by an impressive presentation on Roadmap for Sugathi by Pavan. He discussed about expanding the member base, publicizing Sugathi on web front, future activities and registration process. That concluded the presentations part of our meeting We cut a cake to mark the occasion and the day ended with tea and snacks.
This meet gave a chance to our members to come up with ideas that could help us reach more places in the future. We also got an opportunity to interact with members from some other voluntary groups as well.
We hope our members will spread the word about Sugathi's activities wherever they go and inspire more people to join us.
